Alfredo Garcia
Alfredo Garcia is the Owner and President of American Food Equipment, bringing more than 15 years of experience in restaurant construction, commercial kitchen design, and foodservice equipment. A Mechanical Engineer educated at Universidad Central de Venezuela, Alfredo began his career managing restaurant construction projects, overseeing the entire process from drawings and permitting to construction coordination, client communication, and project completion. He joined American Food Equipment in 2014, where he had the opportunity to work closely with and learn from two generations of industry experience: company founder Bob Greene and longtime owner Michael Clements. Their mentorship, combined with Alfredo’s engineering and construction background, helped shape his practical, operations-focused approach to commercial kitchen design and project execution. In 2018, Michael appointed Alfredo President of American Food Equipment, entrusting him with the leadership and continued growth of the company. Following Michael’s passing, Alfredo carried that responsibility forward and became the owner of American Food Equipment in 2024. Today, Alfredo works closely with restaurant owners, chefs, architects, engineers, contractors, and manufacturers, bringing together his expertise in restaurant operations, kitchen design, equipment specification, complex space planning, and project management. His approach focuses on creating practical solutions that balance operational efficiency, design, budget, and constructability. As owner, Alfredo is proud to carry forward American Food Equipment’s legacy, which began in 1969, while continuing to evolve the company for the next generation. Under his leadership, AFE has completed projects throughout Florida and across the United States, as well as internationally in Panama, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and throughout the Caribbean.

American Food Equipment was formerly owned and operated by Michael Clements, who brings over 25 years of restaurant industry expertise gained from multiple vantage points. His career in the foodservice industry began at the age of 12 when he worked as a hot dog vendor at Miami Marine Stadium, and continued through his employment as the Director of Operations for the Johnny Rockets franchise group of South Florida and for Monty’s Raw Bar (Coconut Grove), and later as a restaurant consultant for Nordstrom, RCI Marine, Flagship Marinas and more. A “restaurant person” to his core, Michael understands the industry and that the needs of “restaurant people” extend far beyond the traditional 9-5 business day. Michael and his staff are always available with expert advice, personalized service and the rapid solutions that the pace of this industry demands.
Bob Greene founded American Grinding & Equipment Company in 1952 to fulfill the equipment servicing needs of South Florida’s growing restaurant industry. With this foundation, he launched American Food Equipment, offering expanded services that included commercial kitchen design, equipment sourcing and wholesale restaurant supplies for over 40 years. During that time, Bob has garnered a national reputation for innovative restaurant design and concept execution and remains an integral part of the company, serving as a Consultant.
